Happy Hours
10 Apr 2020

Perhaps you have taken the time to reflect upon your happiest time of the day, perhaps not – take a second now and think back on today, or yesterday. Is it while you were having that first sip of coffee in the morning before life sweeps you off your feet? Could it be during the lunch break you were taking with your colleagues and the couple of you shared a laugh or two? Or maybe the time you were hanging out with your significant other with a tipple after a long day of work, and the sunset was cast a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours in the sky?

As it turns out, there is actually a time of the day that most people around the world reveal being the most pleasurable – 7pm. According to the study led by psychologist Esther Guillaume, The World at 7pm: A Survey of Everyday Life, most cultures described the 7pm vibe as a ‘largely pleasant social interaction.’ Across the 20 countries surveyed, people described rather mundane, yet sweet depictions of everyday life at 7pm.

The most agreed-upon descriptors of people’s 7pm situations include ‘potentially enjoyable,’ and ‘social interaction is possible.’ A respondent from the United States revealed to be ‘relaxing on the balcony’ and ‘drinking wine.’ Someone in Italy was ‘cooking pizza with my boyfriend.’ Another in Singapore shared, ‘I was having dinner with my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandma and my own family.’

While this study is fairly limited, the main takeaway is that while our life experience around the world might be nothing alike, our human experience at 7pm is.

So, go ahead, increase your serotonin levels with these happy hour deals at 7pm and beyond.

Wine, whine and dine
